Why I Never Buy In-Store (Even When I Love It)

I used to buy things as soon as I fell in love with them, a quick hit of joy, a little indulgence. But now? I pause. Because I’ve learned that one small shift turns my spending into strategy.

Here’s what I do instead:

  • 🛍️ I window shop. I try it on, touch the fabric, imagine it in my life.
  • 🚶🏽‍♀️ Then I walk away. Literally. No checkout, no regret.
  • 💻 At home, I buy it online. But only through a cashback portal or points site.

This simple switch means I double dip on rewards:

  • 👉🏽 Cashback or points from the site
  • 👉🏽 Credit card rewards from the purchase

⏳ If I have time, I’ll compare prices online or wait for a promo code. But even if I don’t? That same £100 spend becomes:

  • 💸 £10 cashback
  • ✈️ 1,000 reward points
  • 🛫 A step closer to a free flight upgrade

That’s the soft life. That’s shopping smart — not impulsive, intentional.

So the next time you’re tempted to tap your card at the till, remember: the real luxury isn’t the item, it’s the freedom it can fund later, when you shop with strategy.
